Prof. Paul K. Wainaina reaffirms Kenyatta University's commitment to host the 10th FASU games.
Prof. Paul K. Wainaina the Vice Chancellor of Kenyatta University, reaffirmed the university's commitment to host the 10th FASU Games slated for 2022 in his presentation at the 3rd FISU-FASU-NUSF Strategic Dialogue that was held in Addis Ababa- Ethiopia from 26th - 27th March 2021.
The FASU Games is a regional multi- sport continental event organized for university athletes. It's remarkable that this will be Kenya's third time to host the event having previously hosted it in 1978 and 2014 both at the University of Nairobi.
It should be noted that due to the outbreak of the COVID 19 pandemic, sports activities came to a halt to curb the spread of the virus. FASU Executive Committee in a meeting on 30th April 2020 approved a proposal to postpone the 10th FASU Games and its related activities to 2022 that were supposed to take place in August 2020.
Other highlights at the 3rd FISU-FASU-NUSF Strategic Dialogue were by the hosts of the 2nd Kings of Africa University Rugby7s championship by the Association of Uganda University slated for 9th-10th October 2021 and the 1st Africa University Soccer Championship by the Ghana University Sports Association slated for October 2021 in Accra Ghana. The two championsships are qualifiers for the University World Cups 2022.
