The National Council of Sports (NCS) has welcomed the proposal of deeper engagement and formalised relationship with the Federation of Africa University Sports (FASU). This followed a meeting between the leaders of the organisations at the NCS headquarters on the side-lines of the Treasurer’s Visit to the secretariat.

Appreciating the importance of University sports to the development of Africa, the NCS General Secretary (Dr. Ogwel Patrick) used Uganda as an example where most of the latest outstanding athletes (including Joshua Cheptegei) can be traced back to the university sports movement.

“Uganda hosting a secretariat of a continental organisation is something we are proud of and will farther our engagements towards signing a formal agreement that shall also form the framework for encouraging other continental sports organisations to set up headquarters in Uganda.” – Dr. Ogwel.

The meeting was attended by the NCS’ General Secretary and his two deputies, while FASU was represented by the Secretary General and Treasurer, who was in Uganda on a working visit.
